Section A . 
Q.1.Why did Mahatma decide to launch a nationwide Satayagrah against the proposed Rowlatt Act ?  (2)
Answer : Mahatma Gandhi thought that the Rowlatt Act was the injust act passed by the British in 1919 proves a black act for the Indians.
Q.2. What is the significance of border road?
Ans : The border roads provide a link to the border frontiers and towns of our country. 
These roads are required by armed forces to access and protect Indians border. 
The border road organisation under the Government of India go for the construction and maintenance this roads.
Q.3. Differentiate between national and regional political parties.
Answer : a. The National Party :  which secures at least six per cent of the total votes in the Lok Sabha elections or Assembly Elections in four states.
Must win at least four  seats in the Lok Sabha.
b. Regional Political Parties : If a party secures at least 6% of the total votes in the  Assembly Election.
Must win at least two seats in the  State Assembly Election.
Q.4.In situations with high risks, credit higher for the richer households compared to the poorer households. ( 2 Marks )
Answer : In situations with high risks, credit might create further problems for the borrower. He has to repay the credit along with the interest applied by the lender. This increases the problems for the borrower.

Answer : 3.3
5.2. Which sector has more production of fabrics in India ? 
Answer : Power looms.

Q.6.Why is the share of formal sector credit higher for the richer households compared to the poorer?
Answer : The share of the formal sector credit is higher for the richer households because the richer households are in a better position to provide collateral and other necessary documents which are required by the banks and co-operatives. 
Or
Why are poor households still dependent on informal sources of credit ? 
Answer : Poor households still depend on informal sources of credit because: Bank loans require proper documentation and collateral which is rarely available with poor households. Banks are not present everywhere in rural India, whereas informal sources are easily available in all villages.
Q.7.The relationship between the poor peasants and Congress remained uncertain? Explain.
Answer : As it was supposed that congress was unwilling to support the no rent campaign.
b. The Congress was not interested to loose the support of rich peasants and landlords. 
c. The poor peasants wanted unpaid land to be remitted.
Q.8.Discuss the challenges faced by political parties in order to remain effective instruments of democracy are :

Answer : a. Democracy is better than its alternatives

e. Provides room to correct mistakes (Any other relevant point)
Or Democracy does not appear to be very successful in reducing economic inequality. Explain.
Answer : Whenever democracy was compared  with dictatorship during fifty years it was seen that  dictatorship was a little bit ahead in the terms of economic growth. 
Democracy doesn’t assure hundred percent guarantee of economic growth. 
But other facilities like freedom ,dignity, justice & equality we expect in democracy that is not possible in dictatorship. That's why democracy is preferable. 
Q.10.Why do developed countries want developing to liberlise their trade and investment ?Answer :  Developed countries want developing countries to liberalise their trade and investment because then the MNCs belonging to the developed countries can set up factories in less-expensive developing nations, and thereby increase profits, with lower manufacturing costs and the same sale price

Answer : In my opinion, the developing countries should demand, in return, for some manner of protection of domestic producers against competition from imports. Also, charges should be levied on MNCs looking to set base in developing nations

Q. 11. Read the given text and answer the following questions : ( 4 Marks )
Workers too had their own understanding of Mahatma Gandhi and the notion of swaraj. For planta workers in Assam , freedom meant the right to move freely in and out of the confined space in  which they were enclosed, and it meant retaining a link with the village from which they had come . Under the Int Emigration Act of 1859 , plantation workers were not permitted to leave the tea gardens without permission and in fact they were rarely given such permission.  When they heard of the Non - Cooperation Movement thousands of workers defined the authorities , left the plantations and headed home .  They believed that Ga Raj was coming and everyone would be given land in their own villages .  They , however , never reached a destination .  Stranded on the way by a railway and steamer strike, they were caught by the police and brutally beaten up.

Manufacturing sector is considered the backbone of development in general and economic development mainly because - Manufacturing industries not only help in modernizing agriculture , which the backbone of our economy , they also reduce the  heavy dependence of people on agricultural income providing them jobs in secondary and tertiary sectors , industrial development is a precondition eradication of unemployment and poverty from our country .This was the main philosophy behind sector industries and joint sector ventures in India .  It was also aimed at bringing down regional disparities establishing industries in tribal and backward areas.
Export of manufactured goods expands trade commerce , and brings in much needed foreign exchange .Countries that transform their raw materials wide variety of finished goods of higher value are prosperous.  India's prosperity lies in increasing diversifying its manufacturing industries as quickly as possible .
